Orthodontists are the best qualified people to diagnose, prevent and treat problems regarding the alignment of your teeth and jaws.
An orthodontist is a dentist who has become a registered specialist through further training, in much the same way a medical doctor undertakes further training to become a medical specialist. This involves at least a 3 year Masters or Doctoral program.
Orthodontists must be registered as a Specialist by the Dental Board of Australia / Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
- Do I need a referral from my dentist?
Anyone can contact a specialist orthodontist for an appointment, without a referral.
Ofcourse, if your dentist has concerns about the function, position or appearance of your teeth and jaws, they may refer you to an orthodontist for specialist assessment or treatment.
Your initial consultation will be informative. Dr Fernando will assess your orthodontic needs. He will explain any factors that are specific to your mouth, discuss possible treatment options, how long treatment is likely to take and answer any further questions you may have. He can then provide a written estimate of treatment fees.
- How much does Orthodontic treatment cost?
The fee's for orthodontic treatment can vary depending on the complexity of an individual's presenting problems, and the choice of treatment that is undertaken.
Dr Fernando is pleased to provide a free initial consultation for children and teenagers to assess their orthodontic concerns, and to provide an estimation of fees.
If further records are required after the initial consultation, the findings, finalisation of treatment options and fees will then be provided in a comprehensive analysis and report.
This process enables you to make an informed decision regarding your treatment.
